Warning about the new lightweight compound from the supply house

I was finishing a basement in Springfield last week and grabbed a bucket of that new 'featherlite' mud. It went on smooth but when I came back the next morning, it had cracked along every single seam. The homeowner was standing there pointing at it, asking if this was normal. I had to scrape it all off and redo it with my usual stuff, which cost me a full day and about $200 in wasted material. Has anyone else had this happen with these new formulas?

Yeah that featherlite stuff is junk for seams. Switched back to the regular 20-minute mud for taping and just use the lightweight for top coats now. Had the same cracking issue on a ceiling job last month.

Switched back to regular mud for the first coat, no more cracks. Lightweight only for the final skim now.
