Went with mesh tape over paper on a big job and now I'm paying for it
I had to choose between mesh tape and paper tape for a 30 room hotel corridor last month and went with mesh because I thought it'd be faster. Now half the joints are cracking already and the GC is breathing down my neck for a fix. Anyone ever switch back to paper mid-job to save a headache like this?

Setting compound always messed up my mesh jobs, hot mud worked way better for me.

Did you use setting compound or all purpose with the mesh tape? A lot of guys don't realize you CANT use lightweight or topping compound over mesh because it shrinks too much and pulls away from the joint. You ALMOST have to use a hot mud or at least a 20 minute setting compound for mesh to work right.
