Can we talk about home inspections skipping the attic?

Last year I bought a 1970s bungalow near Whyte Ave and the inspection report said 'attic access limited.' I didn't push it. Two months later I found black mold above the master bedroom from a leaky roof vent. Spent $4,000 on remediation. How thorough are you guys being with pre-offer inspections?

Read somewhere that 60% of home inspectors skip attics. Don't let em.

My last inspector was up there for maybe 2 minutes and came down saying "looks fine." Turns out there was a slow leak around the bathroom vent that had been going for months. I only found it when I went up myself to run some cable and my foot almost went through the rotted plywood. 60% feels high but honestly I believe it given how many people treat attics like dark scary caves that dont matter. Just tell your inspector you want to go up with them if they're willing, makes them actually look around.
