Got told my home inspection was useless until I actually watched one work
My realtor said I was wasting $500 on inspections that just check obvious stuff. So I tagged along with a guy named Mike on a 1950s bungalow in Sherwood Park and watched him find knob-and-tube wiring behind a wall plate I would've missed. Anyone else had an inspector who actually earns their fee?

Did you ever find a $100 bill in your old winter coat, because that's how I felt watching Mike work for the first time? My own inspector once saved me from a furnace that was basically held together with duct tape and prayers. Totally worth the cash just for the peace of mind alone.

Oh man, I was totally in the same boat until I watched my guy work! @skylerg17 you're right about that feeling, it's like finding money you forgot about. My inspector crawled under a house and found a gas line that was literally just capped with electrical tape and a zip tie. That $400 fee probably saved me from blowing up my street.
