Paid $300 for a home inspection that missed a hidden leak
The report looked thorough, but six months later I found water damage behind a basement wall that cost $2,000 to fix. Anyone else had an inspection miss something obvious and have to eat the cost?

Same thing happened to my cousin, the inspector totally missed a rodent infestation in her attic.

Nah that sucks but just a heads up - most inspectors have a clause in their contract that limits their liability to the cost of the inspection itself, not the full repair. So even if they missed something obvious, you're usually only getting that $300 back max, not the $2000. Worth checking your paperwork though.
