The neighborhood across the rail tracks changed completely in 18 months
I was driving through the area near 118 Ave and 82 Street last week and barely recognized it. Three years ago that strip was mostly empty lots and a few run down houses. Now there's a new condo building at 11811 and they're framing another one two blocks west. The city's rezoning from last year really kicked things off. Anyone else notice how fast that pocket near the Coliseum is turning around?

@simonw41, the old bodega closing down is real. My friend Carmen lived near 118 Ave and she told me the bodega guy there used to let her kids pick out a free lollipop on Fridays. Now it's a smoothie place that charges five bucks for a drink. She says it's nice but not the same.

Moved into a similar spot in my neighborhood a couple years back when the first round of condos went up. I was hesitant at first because I liked the quiet empty lots, but honestly the new grocery store and coffee shop that came with the rezoning made it way more convenient for me. The old bodega closed down but the new places are open later and have better stuff. It does feel weird driving past places I used to cut through as a shortcut though, idk.
