The water heater gave out in my duplex last Friday...
My tenants called me about a puddle in the basement around 10 PM last Friday. The 40 gallon unit was 12 years old so I knew it was done for. I called three plumbers the next morning and got quotes from $1800 to $2600 for a new install. Ended up going with a mid-range Rheem from Home Depot and a local guy who charged $1500 labor. The whole ordeal cost me about $2100 total and three days of running back and forth. Has anyone else here found a better way to handle emergency water heater replacements in Edmonton?

Back in 2015 my own tank blew at 2 AM on a Saturday and I drained it with a garden hose into a basement floor drain for an hour before I even thought about calling anyone. That Rheem you got is solid though I've installed a bunch of those for people and they've held up fine.

3 AM with a garden hose sounds like a real PARTY, @kelly_coleman61.
