Wasted $600 on a home inspection that missed a major foundation crack

I hired a guy recommended by my realtor to inspect a house in Mill Woods and he totally glossed over a 8-foot crack in the basement wall that I found 2 weeks after moving in, has anyone else had inspectors miss obvious stuff like this?

Can't believe an 8-foot crack just got swept under the rug like that.

Yeah I read somewhere that the crack was actually visible for months before they did anything about it. Someone on the city council apparently tried to bring it up at a meeting last year but got shut down. I guess they did a quick patch job and called it good enough. Just hope nobody drives over it before they actually fix it right.
