Serious question, a 200 amp main breaker in a 30 year old panel just failed on me during a routine service call. One side says always replace the whole panel, the other says just swap the breaker. What's your take?

Just swap the breaker, it's fine.

Man, that's a tough spot to be in. I'd be stressed trying to make that call too.

Jeez, that's the kind of thing that keeps me up at night. Ross.angela, I get the quick fix idea but I had a buddy swap a breaker once and ended up melting a wire in the wall. Ever had anything like that happen or am I just unlucky?
