That time I shocked myself at a wedding venue and learned my lesson

Honestly, I was running a temporary power setup for a buddy's wedding reception at this old barn place near Denton. Got lazy and didn't double-check my connections on a distribution box, and bam - grabbed a live wire by accident. Not a bad shock, just enough to make me jump and knock over the cake table. Now I never skip verifying everything is dead before I touch it, even if I'm in a hurry. Anyone else had a dumb mistake that stuck with you?

Oh man, that cake table thing really seals it as a memorable lesson huh. What gets me is how one little shortcut can mess up someone else's big day, not just your own. Makes you realize that safety checks are about more than protecting yourself, they're about not ruining a wedding cake for a couple who saved up for months.

My buddy's brother learned that one the hard way at a wedding.
