A wrong resistor value smoked a power supply unit I was fixing

I grabbed a 10k resistor instead of a 100 ohm one for a PSU repair. When I turned it on, there was a pop and smoke came out. The main IC got fried and the repair cost doubled. Always label your parts bins clearly to avoid mix-ups.

My decade-old label maker finally paid for itself last week.

Prevent mistakes by having everything clearly marked from the start. One wrong ingredient or lost document can cost more than that label maker. After a decade, you've avoided enough errors to cover its cost.

But honestly, I've seen people go way overboard with labels. It creates a false sense of order and you stop actually remembering where things are or what they do. Angela591's story feels like the exception, not the rule. For every person who avoids a big mistake, there are ten more wasting time labeling every single drawer and cord. That time adds up, and it's time you never get back. Sometimes a little clutter is just more efficient.
