Friend of mine had his last $20 and bought a scratch off. Won ten bucks, then bought another one with that. Lost it all. Came crawling to me for gas money the next day. I told him that's the lottery cycle in a nutshell. Win a little, lose it all, then ask for help. Some people never learn, I guess.

Wait, I used to think people were just unlucky when it came to scratch offs, but hearing stories like this REALLY changed my mind? @the_keith your friend's story is the PERFECT example of how the lottery hooks people. You win a tiny bit and it tricks your brain into thinking you're on a streak. Then before you know it you're down to zero and begging for gas money. I've seen it happen way too many times with people I know. It's like they can't break the cycle of chasing that next little win.
