I was using a heat gun on a laptop board for way too long because I misread the label
For about two months, I was setting my heat gun to 450 degrees Celsius for chip rework, thinking it was the right temp. The tip-off was when a tiny capacitor literally popped off a board and flew across my bench like a popcorn kernel. I checked the station's manual again and realized the dial was marked in Fahrenheit, not Celsius! I'd been blasting components with over 800 degrees F. Has anyone else had a moment where a simple unit mix-up caused a mini disaster?
