My hot air station gave out mid-repair on a PS5 HDMI port

I was about halfway through removing the old port when the heater core just cut out. No warning, no smoke, just cold air. This was last Thursday on a rush job for a local shop. I had to finish with a regular iron and a lot of flux, which took an extra hour. Has anyone had a Quick 861DW fail like this, and is it worth trying to fix the station itself?

Man, that's a brutal time for it to fail. Did you check the fuse on the power supply board inside the station first? Those can pop without any other signs.

Ugh, that's the worst. It feels like everything breaks at the exact worst possible moment, you know? Like the universe has a mean sense of humor about deadlines.

Wait, hold on. You're saying the power supply board on the station has its own fuse inside? I mean, I just assumed that whole thing was sealed shut after they assemble it. That's wild. So you could technically crack it open and fix a blown fuse without binning the whole unit? I'm kind of shocked I never heard that before, honestly. Maybe it's just me but I've tossed at least two of these things over the years thinking they were totally dead. Dang, that's a really good tip, I wish I knew that sooner.
