Question about choosing a new soldering station a while back

I had to pick between a Hakko FX-888D and a cheaper no-name station, and I went with the Hakko for about $120. It's been solid for 5 years now, but I'm curious if anyone has found a good budget option that actually holds up.

Why drop that much cash on a brand name when the cheap ones do the same job? My $40 station from that online store has been fine for years, heats up fast and holds temp just fine. People get hung up on specs and reviews but half the time you're just paying for the sticker on the front. If it melts solder and doesn't break, what's the real difference?

My cheap one worked until I tried a big ground plane, then it just couldn't keep up. Upgraded to a used name brand for not much more and the difference in recovery time was huge.
