Got told I was doing door hanger adjustments all wrong after 3 years in the trade
I was at a job in downtown Portland last month and a senior mechanic from Otis watched me mess with a leveling sensor for like 10 minutes before he finally spoke up. He said I was overcomplicating it and that most issues on Series 1 controllers come down to a simple 1/8 turn on the limit switch instead of touching the sensor itself. I tried his method and it fixed the problem in under 2 minutes, but now I'm wondering if I've been wasting time on the wrong adjustments all along. Has anyone else had a veteran call them out on a habit you thought was standard?

Yeah, 1/8 turn usually does it. The sensor tweak is overkill.

Haha nah I gotta hard disagree here. That 1/8 turn trick is way too vague for my setup, I've messed up two calibrations trying that method. The sensor tweak takes an extra 5 minutes but it's the only way I get consistent results every time, especially with different filament types. Plus once you've done it a couple times it's really not that hard, just follow the steps and you're golden. I'd rather take a little longer than risk wasting a whole print.
