Had to pick between two different door lock kits for a 90s Otis job

Got called for a sticky door on an old Otis unit, and the shop gave me two lock kits that looked close but not quite the same. One was a generic rebuild kit, the other was the exact Otis part number but cost about $80 more. I went with the exact part, and after three hours of fitting and adjusting, the door closes smooth as butter now. Anyone else run into this choice on older gear, or do you guys usually go with the cheaper rebuild option?

Been there, how much time did you waste on the generic one last time?

Oh man, it was like 45 minutes last Tuesday. I was so annoyed, Lisa. The generic one just would not cooperate at all.

Easy fix next time - close the program and relaunch it right away, that usually knocks it out in under 10 minutes. Saved me a ton of headache once I started doing that.
