The day I spent 4 hours fixing a door that worked fine
Got a call last Tuesday for a slow close issue on a Schindler 330a in a midtown office building. Turned out the door coupler was just a quarter turn loose, but I tore half the cab apart before I checked the simple stuff. Anybody else waste a whole morning on what turned out to be a one wrench fix?

Man I feel this SO hard. "Tore half the cab apart before I checked the simple stuff" is basically the story of my life with everything. I swear, the first thing I do now when ANYTHING breaks is just stare at it for five minutes before touching anything. Like last week my coffee maker stopped working and I was about to order new parts online, then I just jiggled the plug and it was fine. It's like our brains are wired to assume the WORST first when really the answer is usually just right there being super obvious.

Oh man, last week I spent three hours taking apart my lawnmower because it wouldn't start. Pulled the carburetor off, cleaned it, put it back together, still nothing. Finally called my buddy who knows more about engines than me and he says "did you check the spark plug wire?" It was just loose. I felt like the biggest dummy on earth. That's my whole life right there. I'll tear something down to the frame before I think to see if it's even plugged in. Even with the coffee maker thing you mentioned, I did the exact same thing but with my toaster last month. Just had a crumb stuck in the lever.
