Five years in and I just realized I was over-extracting the whole time

Last Tuesday I had a client with super congested skin. I went in like usual. Poked around for 10 minutes. She said 'are you done yet?' That's when it clicked. I was pressing way too hard trying to get everything out. Caused redness and irritation for nothing. Anybody else have that lightbulb moment with extractions?

Oh man, that is such a real thing! My friend Jenny who does facials told me she had the same wakeup call about a year ago. She was working on this guy with cystic acne and spent like 15 minutes digging around with her tools. He finally asked her if she was trying to carve a pumpkin on his face. She said she felt so bad afterward because his skin was all red and angry for two days. Now she just leaves the stubborn ones alone and focuses on the surface level stuff.
