Had a client come in with a chemical burn from a DIY peel she bought online

Honestly, it was last Tuesday and her skin was so red and peeling in patches. She said she used a 30% glycolic acid solution from some random website and left it on for 20 minutes. I spent the whole appointment just calming her skin down with aloe and a super gentle barrier cream. It really messed up my schedule for the day. Has anyone else had to deal with fixing a bad at-home peel result, and what's your go-to recovery protocol?

Used to think these horror stories were overblown until I saw a similar case last month. A client came in with what looked like a second-degree burn from a "professional grade" kit she ordered. My whole recovery plan is just damage control now. I slather on a basic ceramide cream, keep it covered with a healing ointment, and tell them to avoid everything but gentle cleanser and sunscreen for two weeks. It's frustrating because the real fix is just time and not messing with it further.

That's the worst part, right? The damage is already done and you can't speed up healing. People want a magic fix but skin just needs to be left alone. Your plan is basically all anyone can do. It's scary how easy it is to get your hands on stuff that can really hurt you.

Ugh, I used to think those kits were fine until this.
