Hot take: Stop over-exfoliating clients before chemical peels

I had a client last month who came in for a light peel and her skin barrier was so damaged from her home routine that the peel barely had any effect. She was using a scrub every single night and then a retinol serum on top. Has anyone else noticed more clients coming in with over-exfoliated skin from those trendy Korean washcloths?

That Korean washcloth trend has caused a mess in my treatment room too. Had a woman last week who was using one every night with an AHA serum, and her skin was so raw and blotchy I had to reschedule her peel for a month out. The texture on those cloths is way too rough for daily use, they really strip everything off. It's frustrating because clients think more exfoliation equals faster results, but it just destroys their barrier.

Yeah, seems like the same mindset that has people polishing their hardwood floors until the finish is completely gone.
