Just realized I was using my steamer wrong for 6 months straight

I've been an esthetician for about 2 years in Portland and always wondered why my extractions were taking forever. Took a class last weekend and the teacher pointed out I was holding the steamer way too far from the face like 10 inches instead of 6. She literally said "you're just steaming the room not the skin" lmao. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you've been doing something basic completely backwards?

I mean, 10 inches is definitely too far, but are you sure that was the only thing slowing down your extractions? I've been doing this for a while and I've noticed a lot of people blame distance when their steamer just isn't hot enough to begin with. A lot of those cheap table steamers don't even reach a good temp until they've been running for like 10 minutes. Just saying, maybe check the settings on yours because 6 inches is correct but if the steam is weak you're still gonna be waiting forever.

Totally see this in other stuff too, like people blaming the tool when it's really their technique or setup. Reminds me of how everyone rushes to buy a new phone when their old one just needs a basic battery swap.
