Reading an old textbook and found a wild fact about waxing

I was going through my old Milady's Standard Esthetics book from beauty school, the 2009 edition, and saw that back then they recommended using talc powder before waxing sensitive areas. I guess that was the standard before pre-wax oils became the norm. It just surprised me how much the basic prep steps have shifted in just over a decade. Has anyone else come across an old technique that feels totally outdated now?

Actually think the old talc method was better, it absorbed way more moisture than oil does.

Honestly, my grandpa still swears by talc for his work boots.

Oh man, reminds me my buddy used to dump baby powder in his hockey gear back in the day. Said it kept the stink down but honestly it just made everything look like a snow globe in the locker room.
