The day I stopped over-exfoliating my clients' faces

I had this regular client named Jenna who kept complaining about breakouts after her peels. I thought she was just not following aftercare. Then I attended a workshop in Portland last fall where the instructor literally said 'if your skin is angry after treatments, you're probably doing too much.' That hit hard. I realized I was layering acids and scrubs like we were racing to the bottom. Has anyone else had that moment where you figured out less is actually more?

Oh man, that Portland workshop hit me hard too! I used to do glycolic peels followed by microdermabrasion on the same clients and wondered why they'd come back looking like tomatoes. Learning to back off was the best thing I ever did for my business.

A buddy of mine used to layer like three different exfoliating treatments in one session thinking more was better. Her clients kept getting these weird shiny patches on their cheeks that took weeks to heal. She finally learned that doing less actually saves more time in the long run.
