TIL I was wiping my extraction tools wrong for 5 years before a mentor in Phoenix showed me the right way

I used to just use alcohol wipes back and forth but she showed me to swipe in one direction only from handle to tip so you don't push bacteria back into the crevices and now my tools actually stay clean between clients, has anyone else been doing it wrong this whole time?

Back and forth wipes are just smearing stuff around, never thought of it that way. Did your mentor mention if that same one-direction rule applies to cleaning the handles with soap and water too? Asking because I always just scrub those in circles.

Is it really that serious though? I mean you're cleaning a toilet handle not a surgical instrument. @harper_gibson2 I scrub mine in circles with a soapy sponge and it comes out fine. Unless you're dealing with like raw sewage or something a few swirls won't kill you. People overthink this stuff way too much.
