Can we talk about expensive digital brushes for fantasy maps
Everyone says you need those $50 brush packs, but I bought one and it was a total waste. My maps looked the same as with the free default round brush in Krita. Has anyone actually gotten better results from a fancy brush set, or is it just hype?

Bought the "Cartographer's Vault" set for $45 last year. Used it twice. The fancy tree stamps just look like green blobs at normal map scale. My old scatter brush from a free pack does the same job.

The real cost, @bailey.sam, is the hard drive space.

Betting that's the real hidden cost nobody talks about, @kai_west. I spent an afternoon downloading a "mega pack" of 400+ brush presets once and it took up nearly 8 gigs on my old laptop. Half of them were just subtle texture variations I'd never use and the other half were so specific they'd look weird in anything but a demo map. The file size creep is real, you know, especially when you start hoarding maps and assets from different creators.
