Had to choose between ink and digital for my latest map and I'm still second-guessing
I've been hand-drawing maps for my D&D campaign for like 5 years now, but last month I tried making one in Wonderdraft for a new city I made up. The digital version took me maybe 6 hours tops and it looked clean, but something felt off. My hand-drawn maps usually take around 15 hours but have this messy charm that my players always comment on. I ended up using the digital one for the final session and half the group said it was too "video gamey" and missed the old style. Has anyone else bounced back and forth between methods and regretted one choice?

Wait, your players actually complained? That's kind of extra lol.

That "too video gamey" comment hits close to home... I switched to digital for a campaign map last year and one of my buddies straight up said it looked like a "generic RPG splash screen." Stung a bit because I spent hours on it. Hand drawn maps have this personal feel that digital just can't copy, even with all the cool brushes and filters. I ended up going back to ink for my current campaign and my players keep taking photos of the map mid session to show their friends.
