Overheard a game dev say he uses AI to generate his map names and lore...

I was at a local comic shop in Denver last Saturday and this guy was telling his friend he just feeds a prompt into an AI for all his fantasy city names and backstory now. Said it saves him 'hours of thinking.' I just sat there with my hand-drawn map of a mountain pass and felt kinda sick. What happens when every map has that same AI-generated feel? I already see maps with rivers that don't make any sense geographically... Has anyone else noticed this creeping into the community?

Different tools for different folks, I guess. A guy drawing maps by hand in this day and age is its own kind of cool, and no AI is gonna replace that vibe (you know, the grit). But if some game dev wants a hundred town names without staring at a blank screen, I can see the appeal.

Hand drawn maps have soul, AI names are just practical. Both can live in the same world.

And the imperfection is what makes it feel like a real place, you know?
