Finally got that tricky draft horse to stand still for a full trim

Had a big Percheron named Gus at the Miller farm who always fidgets and leans. Last week, I tried a new hold on his front leg, just a slight shift in my stance, and he settled right down. The whole trim took under an hour, which is a record for him. His owner even joked that I must have given him a treat. Anyone got other tips for horses that just won't stand square?

That's awesome when you find that one little trick. I mean, it's wild how a tiny change in your own stance can make all the difference for them. My friend's quarter horse is the opposite, he'll plant himself like a statue but then try to rest his head on your shoulder the whole time.

Try a quick step back when he leans in.
