Showerthought: I finally figured out a way to keep a hoof stand from sliding on slick concrete
I was working in a barn near Lexington last month and the floor was polished concrete, like ice. My stand kept walking away every time I put pressure on it. After three tries with rubber mats that still slid, I grabbed a scrap of that rubber shelf liner from my truck. Cut a square, put it under each foot of the stand, and it didn't budge for the rest of the day. It's cheap, thin enough to not be in the way, and grips like crazy. Anyone else have a better fix for this? I'm tired of chasing my tools.

@the_thea has a point, but that liner sounds too flimsy.

That shelf liner trick is solid, but it's actually a hoof stand you're talking about, not a hoof. The stand is what slides.

Yeah, that shelf liner is no joke. I had the same problem with my stand on a sealed garage floor last winter. I tried those non-slip pads for rugs first and they were useless. The shelf liner is thin but it really does grip like crazy, way better than a rubber mat. It's the only thing that's ever worked for me on a really slick surface.
