That one hoof wall separation in a Paso Fino that took me three visits to really fix
Had a client's Paso Fino in Lexington with a nasty vertical wall separation, about 2 inches long. I tried a standard glue and clamp on the first visit, but it popped within a week. Ended up having to do a full acrylic patch and a custom bar shoe, which finally held after the third appointment. Anyone have a better method for these stubborn ones?

Ever try drilling a tiny hole across the crack first to give the glue something to lock into?

That's a clever idea, @the_skyler. What size drill bit do you usually use for something like that?

But honestly, why make it more complicated? Drilling just gives you another weak spot and a chance to split the piece further. A clean, tight glue joint with the right adhesive is stronger than trying to create some kind of anchor. Isn't the goal to fix the crack, not turn it into a woodworking project? If the surfaces fit together well, the glue does its job without extra holes.
