Update: My client's draft horse went from stumbling to smooth in 8 weeks

He's a big Percheron with flat feet, and his owner said he was tripping a lot on their gravel driveway. I started a trim every 5 weeks and added a rolled toe, and now he walks with way more confidence. Has anyone else seen this kind of turnaround with a similar hoof shape?

That's a great result, but I'd be careful calling it a flat foot. A true flat foot with no concavity is pretty rare. What you're probably seeing is a low heel with a long toe, which makes the whole foot look flat. The rolled toe helped because it let him break over easier, but the real fix was likely the frequent trims that finally got that toe length under control. I see it all the time with big draft breeds.

Yeah, "true flat foot with no concavity is pretty rare" is a good point. I've just always called a low heel and long toe a flat foot in the barn. The frequent trims are definitely what fixed it.
