My professor told me to ditch the zippers on my final project collection

I went with hidden magnetic closures instead and the whole line got way more positive feedback at the grad show. Has anyone else had a simple material swap make that big a difference?

My buddy swapped out cheap plastic buttons for these vintage ceramic ones on a denim jacket. The whole vibe changed and people wouldn't stop asking about it.

Guess he unlocked the secret level of dressing where people actually notice your clothes. Next he'll be sewing on antique coins and getting stopped for fashion tips on the street. Pretty soon he'll need a bodyguard just to go get coffee because his buttons are too interesting. It's a slippery slope from ceramic buttons to being a local style icon who can't run errands in peace.
