PSA: I used to just sketch on paper, but a client's last-minute change on a wedding dress design cost me 3 days of work.

Man, that sounds so frustrating... losing three whole days to a paper sketch is a special kind of pain. @oliver523 is totally right about the meetings being the real time-sink though. The back-and-forth talk before you even start the actual work just eats up your life. It feels like the clock is just ticking away while you're trying to pin down what they actually want this time.

Three different design proposals in one afternoon for my cousin's wedding last year. Honestly @amy692 hit it right about the meetings. We spent an hour just deciding between sage green and mint for the napkins before anyone even looked at the sketch. The actual revisions took maybe 20 minutes but the talking part killed two days.

Oof, that's rough but I gotta say, even digital files wouldn't have saved all that time. The real killer with last-minute wedding changes is the client meeting and reworking the concept itself, not just redrawing lines. I lost a whole weekend once just talking through a new idea before I even touched a pencil or tablet.
