PSA: My silk charmeuse sample tore right down the middle during a final fitting in my studio last month, so I patched it from the inside with a scrap of organza and it actually gave the skirt this cool, subtle texture.
Has anyone else had a fabric disaster turn into a happy accident, maybe with a different material like cotton or leather?

Oh man, my canvas tote ripped and my sloppy sashiko mend is now the best part.

Tokyo tailors charge a lot for that look. Your fix adds way more character than a perfect stitch. It tells a better story now.

Sloppy sashiko mends are the best, @the_phoenix. A little fray check on the edges can keep it from getting worse.
