Switched from airlock lids to cloth covers on my kraut jars
I used to think those fancy airlock lids were the only way to keep mold away, but after 3 batches of cabbage turning fuzzy on top I gave up. Then I tried plain old cloth and a rubber band on my last 5 jars of sauerkraut and they all came out perfect with zero mold. Turns out the airflow actually helps the good bacteria win the battle faster. Has anyone else had better luck with simple covers over expensive gear?

5 jars of sauerkraut all came out perfect" wait seriously? Thats wild. Ive been using those pricey airlock lids for like a year and a half and they were fine but now Im kinda pissed I spent all that money. Honestly after reading this Im gonna try cloth on my next batch this weekend, I got a big cabbage in the fridge just waiting. Ngl I never thought plain airflow could beat the fancy gear but you proved me wrong.
