Bought a $25 light meter app and it saved my whole roll
Shot a roll of Portra 400 at a friend's indoor party last weekend, lighting was all over the place. My phone app gave me perfect readings when my camera's meter was confused. Ended up with maybe two usable shots without it. Anyone else rely on an app, or do you stick to the camera's built-in meter?

Totally get that, my camera's meter freaks out in mixed light too. Used a free app last fall for some backlit family shots on film. The phone just handled the bright window and dark room way better. Honestly felt like cheating, but the photos came out perfect. Would have ruined the whole roll guessing at settings. Now the app stays on my phone for tricky light, no shame in it lol.

Same, my phone meter saved a whole beach sunset roll.

Did a buddy of mine try that same trick at a family reunion? He pulled out his phone to meter a group shot under a tree with the sun blasting behind them and got perfect exposures every time. Saved him from wasting a whole roll of Portra, but he still jokes about feeling like a traitor to his old Nikon.
