Finally got a roll of Portra 400 developed and every single shot of my dog in the park came out blurry.

I thought I had the shutter speed fast enough at 1/125 but after looking at the negatives it's clear I need at least 1/250 for anything that moves, anyone else struggle with motion blur on their first few rolls?

Yeah 1/125 is way too slow for anything breathing. Gotta crank it up or freeze the action with higher speed next time.

Same thing happened to me with my first roll of Portra actually. Had my dog on a walk at the local soccer field and thought 1/125 would freeze him mid-jump for the ball, nope. Worth remembering that blur isn't just a camera problem either, it's like how we miss details in everyday life when we're not paying close enough attention. Like how I didn't realize my coffee maker was leaking until I saw the stain on the counter weeks later, same idea just slower. You gotta adjust your settings for what's actually moving, not what you assume is still.
