Why does nobody talk about using your apartment window as a film photo subject?

I always thought my view was too plain for pictures, just other buildings and sky. Then I got a roll of color film and decided to shoot the same window frame every day for a week. The light changed each time, from soft morning glow to bright noon beams. I saw how the shadows moved on the wall inside my room. When I picked up the prints, the series told a quiet story about my home. It made me notice small details I walk past all the time. Now I tell other beginners to try shooting one ordinary thing near them. You might be surprised by what your camera sees that you don't.

Read an article once about how Edward Hopper's paintings often framed views through windows. Made me realize how much story a simple window can hold, just with changing light. Your photo series sounds like it found that same quiet magic.

Ever consider how Hopper's windows often feel like barriers? @elizabetht56, I get the story angle with light, but tbh I always saw those paintings as more about being alone. Like in 'Nighthawks', the big window just separates the lonely people inside from the empty street. It's not about what you see through it, but what you can't reach. Honestly, that glass might frame a view, but it also keeps the world at a distance.

Oh man, that's such a good idea. I love how @elizabetht56 put it about the quiet magic. Makes me wanna go stare at my own boring window now.
