Found out dryer sheets are ruining my machine's sensor
Was pulling a load of towels out last week and noticed they were still damp even after a full cycle. Took me an hour of digging through forums on my phone to figure out the lint buildup on the moisture sensor was from the anti-static coating on those sheets. Cleaned it off with a scrubby sponge and some rubbing alcohol and it worked perfect again. Anybody else run into this or have a better way to keep that sensor clean?

Oh man, the "still damp after a full cycle" trick. That one got me good too. I spent way too long cussing out my machine thinking it was broken before I stumbled onto the same sensor cleaning fix. The anti-static coating on those sheets is basically wax, and it builds up like crazy. Your rubbing alcohol trick is the best way I've found honestly, just scrub gently so you don't scratch the metal. Only other thing I'd add is maybe try wool dryer balls instead of sheets, they don't leave that film and they actually work better for fluffing towels. But hey, if you're like me and already bought a bulk box of sheets, at least now you know the fix takes five minutes once a month.

Honestly the wool ball thing is the move. I switched last year and my towels actually come out fluffy now instead of that weird stiff feeling. Never going back to sheets even if I have to deal with the static sometimes.
