Hot take: people keep using PLIERS on stuck screws and it makes everything worse

Watched my neighbor try to yank out a stripped screw on his deck railing with channel locks last weekend and he just rounded it off more. If you can't get a grip with a proper screw extractor set for $15, why keep making the hole into a MESS?

Fifteen dollars?! For a proper screw extractor set?! That is the part that gets me every single time. I watched my own dad do this exact thing last month with a pair of rusty vice grips on a cabinet hinge screw and I almost lost it right there in the kitchen. Channel locks on a screw are like trying to butter toast with a hammer, it makes no sense. People see the word "pliers" and think it can fix anything but it just makes the hole into a sad little crater. A simple extractor kit at the hardware store costs less than a pizza and saves you hours of swearing.

Pliers on screws is just advanced vandalism at this point.

Read somewhere that ancient Romans used pliers on screws too, @richard_wells59. Guess some things never change.
