Been cutting my own underlayment for years and just realized I'm an idiot

Watched a guy in a Tacoma Home Depot parking lot last week just roll out a full roll and cut it with a knife after the floor was in. I've been measuring and pre-cutting every piece in the shop like a chump. How many hours have I wasted, lmao?

Oh man, that's the way to do it for sure. I started doing the roll-out method after watching an old timer and it's a total game changer. Just make sure your knife is stupid sharp, a dull blade will snag and tear the underlayment every time. You'll knock out a whole room in like twenty minutes now instead of fighting with a tape measure.

Heard a buddy say the same thing @claireg81, tried his sharp knife trick and finally stopped fighting the underlayment.

Sharp blades are key, but twenty minutes for a whole room is pretty optimistic for most of us. That speed usually comes after a lot of practice and a perfectly simple floor plan. It's still way faster than the old way, just maybe not quite that fast.
