I chose local flowers over imported for a big wedding and it was rough
A bride in Portland wanted peonies in October, so I had to pick between expensive imported ones or using local dahlias. I picked the dahlias, explaining the season and supporting nearby farms. The week before, a frost hit and my main dahlia supplier lost half their crop. I had to scramble and the final look was different than her first idea. Has anyone else had a season switch go wrong even when you picked the right local option?

Imagine planning around a frost in October. That's some next level bad luck right there. You did everything right and still got hit.

@kellyw44 what did you have planted that got hit?

I saw a local news story last week about a farm near Springfield that lost their whole late pumpkin crop to that same early frost. It really is brutal timing. I feel for you, @kellyw44, because you can't control the weather no matter how well you plan. @wright.drew, I'm curious too, were they specialty plants or just your regular fall veggies that got caught?
