Shoutout to chicken wire for changing my bouquet game

I used to wire every single stem by hand for structure and it took SO long, especially for big wedding orders. Then I saw a florist in Portland use a crumpled ball of chicken wire inside the vase and it holds everything in place way better. Anyone else made the switch to chicken wire for their arrangements?

Wait, wait wait - you mean to tell me you were actually wiring every single stem by hand? Like individually wrapping each one with wire before it even went in the vase? That sounds like an absolute nightmare, I can't believe you did that for wedding orders. Chicken wire changed everything for me too honestly, I just crumple it up into a ball and shove it in there and stuff stems wherever they fit. Its so much faster and the stems actually stay put instead of sliding around.

The crumpled ball method is genius, my partner tried it last summer and I was skeptical at first but now I'm totally converted... ended up using it for a huge centerpiece project at a friend's barn wedding and it held up way better than any tape grid I've ever done. Funny enough I actually broke a really pretty ceramic vase trying to wedge the wire in too tight once, had to buy a replacement in a panic the morning of an event. Still worth it though, the structural freedom is unmatched compared to hand wiring every little stem.
