Update: A wedding in Charleston made me rethink my whole approach to centerpieces

Honestly, I was at a venue setup last month where the planner asked for low, open bowls instead of my usual tall vases. I thought it would look flat, but seeing all the guests actually talk across the tables without flowers blocking them was a big deal. The bride said it made the room feel more connected, and I got three referrals from that one job. Now I'm offering more low-profile designs and they're booking fast. Has anyone else found clients asking for shorter arrangements lately?

My last tall centerpiece was so big, I think it blocked the bride from seeing the groom.

It's funny, @marymorgan, because I see this everywhere now. Restaurants are taking down those tall booth dividers, and even new office layouts have lower cubicle walls. It's like we all got tired of things getting in the way of a simple conversation.

That "more connected" feeling gets lost when you can't see the drama of tall flowers across the room.
