Visited a new flower shop in Charleston and their bouquet pricing felt off

They were charging $85 for a basic mixed bouquet that looked like maybe $35 in stems. I get that rent is high, but the markup seemed way beyond just covering costs. Has anyone else seen shops push prices this high for simple designs?

Yeah, that's the new normal in a lot of tourist areas now. I just skip those shops and go straight to the farmer's market on Saturday, the flower vendors there have way better prices for the same stems. Sometimes you can even put together a nicer bouquet yourself for half that cost.

Yeah, that farmer's market move is smart, @allen.drew. Tourist spots are such a rip.

Haven't you found that farmer's markets are just better for getting the real local feel anyway, @dylanwilliams? I'm with you on skipping the tourist traps. Last time I visited a big city I grabbed herbs and a loaf of bread from a market stand for a fraction of what the corner shops wanted. It's nice to support the actual growers too, not just some middleman marking everything up.
