Finally hit 200k miles on my '97 F-150 without a major repair

Just rolled over on my way home from a job in Springfield. It's the original 4.6 engine, just kept up with basic stuff. Anyone else have an old workhorse that just keeps going?

What's your secret for keeping the original transmission going that long?

Honestly, the secret is just never letting my wife drive it. She treats every gear shift like it personally offended her. Tbh I just change the fluid when I remember to, which is maybe twice in the last decade. It's less about a secret and more about the truck being too stubborn to die out of pure spite.

So you're saying the key to a long life is just pure hatred? That tracks, my old lawnmower only runs because it's mad at the grass. Honestly, keeping a machine alive through bad vibes alone is a kind of gift. I guess if you treat it rough and ignore the manual, it just gets too angry to quit. That truck is probably fueled by rage and old transmission fluid at this point.
