Honestly, a guy at the gas station in Bakersfield told me he's had his '97 F-250 for 28 years and it's never left him stranded

Okay but never stranded is a pretty low bar. Like did it start every single morning in the valley heat? Did the AC blow cold the whole time? Never needing a tow doesn't mean it wasn't a pain sometimes. My buddy's old truck ran but you had to jiggle the ignition switch for five minutes.

Hey, that's actually a huge deal in Bakersfield! Our summer heat murders batteries and cooks belts. If that 7.3L diesel fired up every time in 110 degrees for nearly three decades, that's way more than just not being stranded. That's legendary reliability.
