Pro tip: Swapped my old 2WD for a 4x4 F-150 after a muddy weekend in the hills.

I took my '98 2WD up near Pineville last month and got stuck in a simple ditch after some rain... my buddy in his '04 4x4 just idled right out. The difference in traction on anything but dry pavement is honestly night and day. Anyone have a favorite tire for a 4x4 that's good on pavement but can handle some mud?

Ugh, 2WD is fine if you drive smart.

Exactly... drove a front-wheel drive car through five Chicago winters and never got stuck once. You just have to know how to handle the weight and not panic brake. People act like you need a tank for a little snow.

What tires were you running though?
