Update: The mud pit at the Johnson County fairgrounds wrecked my F-150's alternator

I was at the truck pull event last Saturday, just watching from the side. My 2018 F-150 was parked on what looked like solid ground. A big Super Duty went through the deep pit and sprayed a wall of muddy water everywhere. It soaked my engine bay completely. Drove home fine, but the next morning it wouldn't start. My mechanic said the alternator was fried from the mud and water, cost me $550 to fix. Anyone else had a simple spectator spot turn into an expensive lesson?

That's just how it goes sometimes, a simple bystander moment costing you big.

Ever see someone just freeze up? My friend watched a guy drop his wallet and didn't say anything, thinking someone else would. Dude walked off, and my friend found it later. Felt so guilty he spent weeks trying to track the guy down online to return it, cash still inside. Cost him a bunch of time and stress over what was a two-second decision to not speak up.
